Gunmen injure Kenya policemen

Nairobi (RBC) Two police officers were injured, one critically, after a gun attack by assailants suspected to be Al Shabaab militants at Liboi, near the Somalia border, on Tuesday night.
The officers were flown to Nairobi on Wednesday for specialised treatment.

One of the officers was shot on the left side of his chest at 9pm at Abdi-Sugo, about 5km from Liboi town.
The second officer sustained slight injuries in the legs after the attack by gunmen who escaped into the darkness on foot after the ambush.
The officers were in a group of four attached to the Dadaab Police Station, and had reportedly taken prisoners to court. They were travelling back to their station, about 100km away, when the incident happened.
“These are people who knew the officers had taken these prisoners to court and were returning. Investigations are under way to establish who they are,” said a senior officer.
Police immediately blamed the attack on remnants of Al Shabaab operating in the area.
The victims’ colleagues said they had just passed Abdi Sugow and were heading to Dat Kuran when gunshots rent the air.
Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe confirmed and said the officers had been brought to Nairobi for treatment.
